FRAIJANES, GUATEMALA

The Fraijanes region is distinguished by high rainfall, lofty altitudes and shifting humidity. The Pacaya volcano located in the Fraijanes region is active, and occasionally has minor eruptions. This volcano nourishes the soil with minerals and occasionally deposits ash. The sun is plentiful in the dry season, which helps lift the morning fog and dew. 

 

The coffee growing region of Fraijanes has been shrinking due to demographic pressures. Proximity to the capital means that as the city expands, property values increase. Many farms in Fraijanes have been sold for real estate development.
